This Christmas, may we remember that the Prince of Peace came not to comfort the powerful, but to free the captive, feed the hungry, and dethrone every kingdom built on the backs of the oppressed.

The incarnation wasn't safe. It never has been.

Jesus came as a refugee, born under occupation, announced to the marginalized. His arrival threatened Herod's throne so deeply that the king ordered a genocide of children in Palestine.

The powers of the world recognized what we often domesticate: this child came to overturn empire and oppression.
