Well, what if they can't? Because they're bullied, abused etc. for example? And if something traumatic happens that affects the whole family parents shouldn't think they're the only one who's traumatised tbh.

And if they want to open up to you, listen to them instead of saying things like that. They'll end up thinking you don't care and bottle up their feelings which can lead to depression. "Enjoy your life till you're a kid when you turn into an adult it'll be worse"
