Stumbled upon this one out of necessity. This is the amount of damage cabbage worms can do in one night. With a couple of the smaller seedlings, there was nothing left but the stem. 😭
But then I got the netting and realized they looked like little ghost costumes, lol. 👻

Got the baby broccs all potted up and dressed in lil ghost costumes for Halloween (and so the cabbage worms don't eat them).

I found this 3D printed window sill seed starter that uses recycled K-Cups as pots and tried to see if I could get some spinach to sprout. 2 out of 4 isn't bad, I guess!

The horrors persist, so I'm coping by attempting fall crops for the first time. Also my first time trying to grow anything from seed. Here are all my little baby spinnies and broccs (aka spinach and broccoli). Pretty mixed results so far, but I'm learning!

Biggest difference was the texture. The black beauty was more spongy while the white eggplant was more dense. I fried these, and I think the denser texture of the white eggplant made it better for frying since it could crisp up on the outside and be creamy on the inside without turning to mush.

Eggplant update! Did a taste test between the white eggplant and a black beauty, also from my garden. Taste was very similar. They were both ripe with absolutely no bitterness and just a hint of sweetness, though the sweetness came out in the white eggplant more after cooking than raw.

On this third anniversary of the Better Call Saul episode Point and Shoot, I'm thinking about this photo of my cat Sera, who always used to hang out and watch Better Call Saul with me and passed away shortly after the series ended. She was my little TV buddy, and I miss her so, so much.
