I got a two-color thermal label printer.

The labels visually pop way more than black and white stickers

Bluesky videos don't unfurl in Slack, so I added video importing to my bluesky-helper slack app.

It now both unrolls threads and imports videos into Slack for you:

SF Center For The Book does steamroller linocuts every year, with an old-school steamroller that actually runs on steam

I didn't realize the API silently paginates, so added a button to trigger unfurl of the next page of posts:

I made* a Bluesky-to-Slack thread unroller:

Instructions for installing it in your own Slack + aws lambda account are here: github.com/rajbot/blues...

The Suzanne Jackson retrospective at SF MOMA is wonderful. Be sure to check it out!

Holidays are a good time to check what scam App Store subscriptions your parents got suckered into.

The latest one is this scam OfferUp subscription my mom has.

Does she use it? No. Does she know she is subscribed to it? No. Does she get billed $20 every month by OfferUp? Yes. Total scam.

The neighborhood closes the street to cars for Halloween and it results in giant costumes and pure joy!

I didn’t believe this would work but I grabbed one of these flags before crossing the street and it actually makes a difference in getting cars to stop for you!

The marigolds are part of a memorial for neighbor who was killed in a hit and run here.

Crosswalk flags by safestreetsbernal.org at the intersection where a neighbor was killed in a hit and run. Grab a flag from one side of the crosswalk and leave it at the other.

When things get this bad we probably need more safety infrastructure than diy flags, but maybe it helps…

That’s wonderful! We wanted to ride but my kid made a 30ft long bridge costume that was too big!

Lime has figured a way around Lyft’s regulated monopoly on Bike Share in the Bay Area! They simply took the pedals off their e-bike and called it a “Glider”.

There is a SFBA Bench Collective bench at the bus stop near my house. It is constantly being used during the day, but sometimes gets tagged.

Rustoleum “Warm Carmel” spray paint is a good way to keep these clean and keep them from being reported to the city. It dries completely in 20 min.

The #NoTechForICE movement started in 2018, during the first Trump administration’s illegal separation of refugee children from their parents.

Unfortunately, few tech workers paid attention to the evil their tools were enabling. The AI-powered next generation of these tools is now being sold to ICE

With Star Wars and Marvel and Pixar and all the kid franchises, it feels impossible to stop spending money on Disney, but it’s not.

As I wrote in 2020 on the other site: Disney is an immoral company, and always has been.

I vibe-coded a tool for placing images side-by-side or in a grid: www.bitstream.io/image-tiler/

It is useful for comparing graphs side-by-side, and also for sunset pics.
