There is actually already a waiver retailers can get. It relates to encouraging the customer to buy healthy foods instead of junk foods. They can discount raw foods to benefit holders if they have the waiver.

It's really bad visual to send this reminder while withholding SNAP benefit, but the Equal Protection tenet has been in place for decades, pretty much since the program began. The intent is to avoid discrimination (charging them more) and avoid system abuse (fraud to gain the extra discounts).

Trump pays with other people's money. They put the $40K bonus in the Big Horrendous Deficit Bill, so if that passes, he will pay with taxpayers' money. If it doesn't pass, then they won't get paid.

Unfortunately, directly influencing (stopping) ICE from doing their job give Trump cover for sending the military. That's exactly what the lawsuit is about. He can legally send in the military IF federal agents are "unable to do their jobs."
