It reflects the collective nature of the problem. When everyone else is doing something harmful, it can be worse not doing it. It's anti-social, but if everyone's doing it, it becomes social. It's the socialization of anti-social behavior.

We're in a global scapegoating epidemic. People scapegoat for a reason, usually something hidden and protected. I suspect it's internet/device addiction.

Not to say they're capable of fixing the problem, but at least they're halfway there. The elites on the left are just as captured as the elites on the right, but I'm seeing more signs of hope on the left. They're social warriors and the crisis is tormenting them.

The left seems to feel the social crisis caused by our beloved internet but cannot see it, thus are projecting and scapegoating like lunatics. The right (except for far-right dissidents) neither feels the crisis nor sees it, thus are double blind. The energy for solving the crisis is on the left.
