Shameful our media class is treating this as a “debate” and not serious authoritarian overreach and corruption. Even more shameful that articles like this just quotes multiple anonymous ICE agents saying “yes of course we should be masked” and “it’s actually the protesters that should be unmasked.”
A retired ICE agent, who asked Arizona's Family not to share his name due to his own safety concerns, supports agents who hide their faces. "The masks are born from the threats. It's not the opposite. It's not 'we put the masks on and then we're getting threats,'" said the retired agent. The retired ICE agent believes the mask issue is a red herring. "I think it's completely political and if the AG's are really about enforcing laws, they should lead by example and hold everybody accountable. If they think ICE officers need to be held accountable, then anti-ICE officer enforcement protesters need to be unmasked also,” he said.
