Just gorgeous! I admire the stark beauty of winter, but looking at images of spring and summer growth has me longing for those shades of green again.

Had fun today watching some of these foraging in the leaf litter beneath a sugar maple :)

I haven't found them to inhibit growth of plant companions. Some of accounts of allelopathy aren't quite accurate-many times it's root competition that is to blame. Sunflowers have taproots and fibrous roots that may hog nutrients and water from neighbors. But I've had good success interplanting!
