How is an astral being so upset? Why's he gasping/sobbing? What is breath in the Astral plane? What are tears in the Astral plane? Victor's never looked this upset IN FRONT OF JAYCE in his freaking mortal life
Viktor as he appears in the Astral plane after his mask is broken by Ekko's attack. The right side of his face as it appeared in life is visible. His expression is a mixture of fear and sadness. Viktor as he appeared in the Astral plane. He has discarded his entire armored appearance, including his mask. His face is fully exposed and his expression is distressed, showing fear, sadness, and perhaps shame and regret. His body is humanoid-shaped but portrayed without detail, in broad strokes of color. He has turned to face away from Jayce, who appears behind him, also in Astral form, his body obscured by Viktor's left shoulder.

His expression is slightly bewildered, and perhaps ashamed, as he starts to see the impact of his actions through different eyes.

So many of the Arcane viewing reactions to S2E09 respond to [spoiler] with some variation of "aw, Viktor's still in there!" and yes, true, but consider:

HE'S STILL IN THERE and upon being seen, immediately turns away, moves to cover his face, shrinks 10 feet, and curls into the fetal position
Viktor as he appears in the Astral plane, his half of his mask having just been shattered by Ekko's attack. The upper right side of Viktor's face, just his eyebrow, eye, and nose, are visible where the mask has broken away. Viktor as he appears in the Astral plane, just after having his mask broken by Ekko's attack. He has projected his size many feet larger than his body would appear in real life. Jayce stands before him, shown as a smaller, humanoid-shaped being made of pure light. Viktor is turning away to escape Jayce's gaze, raising his left hand to cover the part of his face that was exposed by the breaking of his mask. Viktor as he appears in the Astral plane after having his mask broken by Ekko's attack. He has shrunk several sizes from the enlarged, imposing persona he had been projecting prior to the attack. He has curled into the fetal position with his left hand covering the part of his face that was exposed when his mask was broken, as though he is trying to hide himself from Jayce, who appears before Viktor as a humanoid-shaped being made of pure light.
