He is absolutely key to the Motion Picture. His interactions with Kirk - from his first moment on the pad, his warning not to push his people too hard, and his implicit threat to relieve him of his command, are beautifully played.

It's the sophistry of 'we're just being patriotic' then moving swiftly on to 'how we've all had enough of illegal immigration' that boils my spuds. Don't co-opt a national symbol and plaster it across public spaces that belong to all of us just to peddle your racist BS.

And I think it's no coincidence that almost all of those are military adjacent bottle shows which give a real insight into how these characters act under pressure. Only then can we appreciate how they behave in their downtime. And then - you know - it's the 60s.

Good episode BUT, I introduced two women (60s/20s) to TOS recently. HUGE problems with attitudes to women. Costumes.Grabbing yeoman.Rand.Roles.
I didn't mention Lester.
