Jag blir inte en bättre och bättre människa med åldern, utan sämre och sämre. Mer bitter och irriterad och mindre empatisk. Det är inte trevligt att vara mig, eller förmodligen vara i min närhet. Jag är trevligare på jobbet, och borde inte ha ”semester” (om jag inte får fara bort ensam).

Granted, people can assert that reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula in a dimly-lit café in Prague on a snowy day whilst having multiple cappuccinos and croissants “won’t fix you”, but they’re failing to understand an undeniable truth:

Medan jag gick runt och gav hästarna mat, mockade och borstade, så funderade jag över vad jag hade velat göra istället (eftersom jag ofta känner en gnagande irritation varje icke arbetsdag, och ännu starkare de dagar jag har tagit ut semester). Det jobbiga är att jag inte har någon aning alls.
