Not afraid of words. Thank you, Brooklyn Public Library
At Central Library, Brooklyn

A Trump exec order bans almost 300 words from being used by federal agencies, the military and any org that receives federal funds. These kinds of "editorial" decisions were popular in Germany in the early 30s.

Dr. Hayden truly brought the LOC out as a modern, culturally relevant institution and has been leading its digital transformation while giving it a much needed “cachet” boost! Sad to see this happen. #libraryofcongress
NEW: ALA salutes Dr Carla Hayden for her exceptional service to the nation as the Librarian of Congress. We are deeply disappointed in Dr Hayden's abrupt & unjust dismissal last night, an insult to the scope & breadth of her work.

This is now hitting home people. Our library will be directly impacted by this. IMLS provides aid to state libraries across the nation. Those state libraries pay for things we individual libraries don’t have to.
🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.
