Imo it's not so much a "you" problem (lol) as much a problem with societal expectations for adult performers.

That said I feel like your variety of work is somewhat unique. Have you done extensive interviews or written an essay or something explaining your journey? Would be very interesting.

The basic genre of Grimdark is: "It's like Lord of the Rings but everything is dark and hopeless" lol. Maybe Tolkien meets.... Cormac McCarthy.

The Prince of Nothing/Second Apocalypse series (by R. Scott Bakker) is quite intense but it's a bit of a slog. People also speaks highly of the author Joe Abercrombie, and Jay Kristoff's Nevernight trilogy.
