Happy 80th birthday to Cardinal Robert Sarah! May God bless him for his life, work, etc. I have learned a bit about silence from his book- "The Power of Silence." Thank you, Your Eminence!

Lk 4:14-22
Jesus read from Prophet Isaiah- spread the Good News to the marginalized and vulnerable communities- the poor, the captives, the blind, and the oppressed. It is to free from the bondage of their unjust suffering and renew for a better life.

1 Jn 4:19-5:4
We love because of the positive consequence of God loving us first. We should not be afraid to love our brothers and sisters. Sometimes, it is not easy, but we can lift the curtains of fear to open our hearts to others just as God has done for us.

Mark 6:45-52
The sea is a motif that is used twice in Mark's Gosepl- calming of the sea and Jesus walking on water. While Jesus rebuked during the calming of the storm, this time- his calming presence shows his presence to all and not to be afraid.

The Prayer of St. Augustine was an inspiration from hearing a Catholic X Space. Deacon Richard from Toronto brought up an interesting saying from his time in the seminary- the "Unholy Trinity"- "me, myself, and I."

My Reflection on the Prayer of St. Augustine: Denying Myself and Embracing God
To deny myself is not to be in denial but to put the will of God above my designs and plans. The Prayer of St. Augustine was a good reminder for that lesson.

Micah 6:8 has been on my mind many times. I have reminded myself with this verse because it serves to ask how to live a virtuous life. Justice, kindness, and humility are examples to actively follow God.

January 1st will be the Day of the Solemnity of the Virgin Mary. The readings center around her role- whether it was implicit or explicit. Jesus is the ultimate blessing, but we should not forget our earthly blessings.

The Feast of the Homily Family will be on this Sunday- December 29. I remembered how Joseph had no lines, and Mary's actions were more apparent. However, reexamining the stories, Joseph's silence is significant. His actions speak louder than words.

Christmas is coming! I thought about my life and read St. Bernard of Clairvaux's homily- “The Fountains of the Savior”- and reflected on four key points. They are humility, mercy, sin and death, and charity.
