This team is built on "cheap guys with high upside". Some of that is due to KSE being stingy, but a lot of it is because Smith believes that model works. It doesn't, not in MLS. At least not any more.

Armas should have gotten this team to the playoffs, but the ceiling is better than a wild-card.

Navarro, Aaronson, and Steffen are the three I think are most likely, and Navarro is dependent on the team built to give him the service he needs. Everyone else, unlikely to a very long shot.

Tonight, because if both AL series had to go to a game 5 the Mariners wouldn't be opposite the Huskies on Friday.

Then the Yankees could have lost game 5 and I'd be happy.

Yes...but. The roster construction of this team is still not good. Armas has completely wasted some players (Bassett) but that doesn't let Smith off the hook for some of the players they stuck him with

Going to get into this more in the near future, but who on this team starts for a playoff team?

Yes it is. Party A gets into power, passes their budget. Party B then gets into power, why would Party A ever vote for a budget with Party B if they knew that their budget would just continue if they didn't vote?

You could add on 2023 as well, but before that it gets better. 2023 also coincides with the first Leagues Cup tournament the Rapids were in. It suggests the added games are wearing out our roster and we don't have enough depth.

Regardless of the result against LAFC over the last two seasons the Rapids will average less than a point per game in games played after August 31st.

That's not a great track record if you're evaluating, say, a extension for your head coach.

If they were planning to cancel elections (which they don't have the authority or manpower to do anyway) they wouldn't be so desperately gerrymandering the House districts to try to keep power.

You don't get a goal for hitting the post. You get a goal for going in the goal. If the puck (or ball) can't go in the goal its not a shot on goal.

There's one essentially around the corner from us in suburban Denver. Though there's a little independent shop just a little further away that has much better donuts that we choose instead.

(Honestly, the supermarket donuts are just as good as Winchell's and cheaper)

Overall this weekend 2 L's ('Hawks, M's Game 1), 2 W's (Dawgs, M's Game 2), and a W/L (Rapids lose 1-0 but keep the Rocky Mountain Cup).

Pretty meh weekend overall. Blackburn and Wealdstone got draws yesterday too.

COL: Best, Navarro (+3.4), Worst, Cannon (-1.5)

Navarro has been very capable as a Striker and in fact, Colorado has a ton of young, positive players in their roster. It makes you wonder if they could use an adjustment in tactics to really make it sing.
