I wouldn't say they're crap but certainly the majority of games are average. The stand outs are few and far between. There's usually 10-15 titles that everyone agrees are great plus another 10-20 that are still very good. After that the quality drops off pretty quickly.

I get what you're saying and it's not without merit but it's also not completely accurate. Games had plenty of issues back then and the only way to patch them was to update them for future copies, the copies already in circulation were just f'd.
