There's a lot of polish to be done, lots of content to be created and added, and this is very far from being a playable game, but at least what I have does work. I'll try to make a really somewhat fun and playable web version by the end of February.

There is a placeholder map, a character I yoinked from VRoid library (will have to replace with my own) with a 3rd-person character controller and some animations. All the other assets are from Quaternius asset packs (some are free versions, some I bought).

Not really that mad, but I'm making one partially because I miss opensource multiplayer games that you could just mod, make maps for, and host yourself. They're still alive, but most are dying out (I'm aware mine won't even be alive tho).

I'm glad I've decided to make a small script interpreter for Quake-like configs, this allowed me to reduce chaos in the code and to automate things I'd like the game to do at start or any point without changing the game code.

Network-related code was broken, as in I couldn't do a scene restart without errors, so if I had to spend more time, it made sense to spend time on a better implementation with the new knowledge. And also nobody is gonna play as a capsule, even a prototype needs some kind of characters.

Switched to Netfox for sever authority over player movement and lag compensation. Also switched to a third person view and added VRoid models and animations from Quaternius's animation libraries. Wanted to do both after the prototype, but decided to improve these things early.

Somehow for every connected player the scene was getting brighter, but what I thought was a bug was in fact a directional light attached to player.

Still prefer Vintage Story mechanics tho. Hytale progression is supersonic, and you can just casually get lost in a cave and survive. But I'm just not a builder in these games, and like to focus on survival side more.

It is now starting to be a game. It starts, players get assigned their roles, hunter can capture, when all the hiders are captured, hunters win, and if the game ends before that, hiders win.

To solve this they have a tool called Toolbx, it's a Podman wrapper. You can install multiple distros and be able to use any of them in terminal. I don't remember what the issue was, but I couldn't get to run some graphical software in there.

Atomic distros like Fedora Silverblue (and therefore Bazzite too) don't allow you to just install, say, libsdl-dev and then be able to use it. You have to reboot for changes to take place.

Libraries and headers to build C++ stuff for example. I had some issues running GUI applications in these environments, but probably it was a skill issue.
