Up until some time in the Renaissance, the custom for how strangers who showed up at your door was to offer them food, shelter, and safety with nothing expected in return but a bit of entertainment - news, songs, tales of one’s travels, etc. The least we could do these days is to welcome refugees.

If a country has a government that’s failing and having trouble enforcing the laws, shouldn’t we welcome refugees from that country while we work to help them re-establish good government?

His doctors suspect something is going seriously wrong. He spent hours at Walter Reed for what was billed as a routine physical and then we’re told he had an MRI. And nobody is administered a dementia screening test multiple times just so he has something to boast about.

By itself this result wouldn’t mean much. But there’s been an ongoing string of elections in which dems do a lot better than expected. It’s a trend that should worry republicans and give hope to dems. But the dems still need to do the work.

He’s got either dementia or suffering multiple TIA’s. Someday soon, he’ll be either dead completely incompetent and, with his penchant for being in the public eye, it can’t be hidden.

Well I’m naive and an optimist. I think dementia is taking its toll. He’s increasingly disinhibited, his manic posting in the evenings could be sundowning. He’s showing weakness on his right side. He’s been administered a dementia test multiple times - that’s unusual. Somebody suspect something.

I was reminded today that some Japanese were tried and executed for firing on sailors in the water. The law hasn’t changed since then.

I know I’m being naive to think the law matters anymore but this strikes me as a violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
