"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts." ~Daniel Patrick Moynihan
Spot-on analysis, and I can help you out about why Bradley would do this, which is not a mystery at all: He values his job and the prestige it gives him to such a degree he will rationalize what he is doing. It's pathetic, but millions of other people would do the same thing. It's not complicated.

Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?

Feeling zero sympathy for people who benefitted from the ACA and then decided to vote for Trump. They *voted* for less comprehensive health care. The people I feel sympathy for are the people who desperately need health insurance and didn't vote for this madness.

FOX is everywhere and no one is forcing anyone to watch it. Millions of people make the choice not to watch every single day. The problem is that shows on FOX appeal primarily to people who *already have* the toxic beliefs FOX promotes and those people watch it to confirm and support their beliefs.

The House Republican health care plan seems to be the exact same one I have for becoming a billionaire. And both plans are equally unlikely to occur.

It's not about intelligence as it is about one's prior belief system. The only people that can be "brainwashed" are people who are able and willing to be brainwashed because they previously had a set of beliefs consistent with the brainwashing. They may not be dumb but they are naive.

Also Trump did not make people this way; he simply brought out the characteristics that were already a part of them but not expressed openly. They believe Trump because he tells them things they had previously believed anyway (or want to believe), and its all based on grievance and resentment.

This is like any other job in that budgets are value statements. If you don't pay people enough to do something, you will inevitably find fewer people to do it.
December 10, 2025 at 1:40 PM
Yes. Trump's most rabid supporters (like the ones at his rallies) support him *because* of his vile behavior, not in spite of it. These are not in any way "good people" and we need to stop pretending otherwise.
December 10, 2025 at 1:12 PM
Just like all the vile human beings cheering for him in the background and the 77 million Americans who voted for him. One way or another, Trump will be gone soon. But we will have to live with the millions of American morons who support him and will remain.

Pennsyltucky is the perfect place for Trump. White, rural, mostly older, and racist. His base in a nutshell.
December 10, 2025 at 4:32 AM
And it should be front page news everywhere, except that will not happen anywhere. The president of the United States says things that would get anyone else rushed to a psychiatric hospital, but rest assured this will not even make a blip in the major newspapers or the nightly news broadcasts.
December 10, 2025 at 4:15 AM
Also useful to note that "medical" care in the late 18th and early 19th century was essentially non-existent and those able to pay for "treatment" were generally no better off than people who got no treatment at all (and "treatments" often made things worse).
December 9, 2025 at 9:23 PM
And for the sixth time in the span of a month, not a single journalist colleague - male or female - defended her or said what Trump said was inappropriate. Just like every other time it's happened. Gutless cowards.
December 8, 2025 at 10:19 PM
LOL. They will never do that. And they don't even support each other. They are taught, by the superiors, to simply "take" the abuse and never say anything. They appear to laughably view it as being "above it all" rather than seeing it as the gutless cowardice that it is. Zero self-respect.
December 8, 2025 at 10:09 PM
Cotton know that there are millions of Americans - most of them White - who completely agree with and support what Cotton is saying. We have insane politicians like this because we have millions of equally insane people electing them.
December 7, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Yes, and the *77 million people* who voted for this. I despite what Republicans are doing, but they are not wrong when they say the majority of Americans voted for this insanity. And it is only a good thing when they suffer the consequences. The bad news is that the rest of us suffer from them too.

I like LeBrun's columns, but still remember reading a column he wrote several years ago in which he defended the NRA because not enough research on gun violence was being published, apparently not realizing that it was the NRA itself who was influencing politicians not to fund that research.
December 5, 2025 at 11:12 PM
One of these years/decades, historians will write what journalists everywhere know but refused to do. Namely, point out that not just Trump was racist, but so were the people who voted for him, despite knowing he was a racist. But almost no news outlet will say this openly, even though they know it.
December 5, 2025 at 7:20 PM
What's really weird is how the percentage of people of color who voted for Trump *increased* from 2020 to 2024. White racists are bad, but maybe even worse are people of color who voted for Trump. They are the equivalent of Black people who support the KKK.
December 5, 2025 at 7:04 PM
The only people worse than White people who voted for Trump are Black people who voted for Trump.
December 5, 2025 at 2:43 PM
Believe it, because most Americans *are* stupid - they don't pay attention, they don't bother to learn the issues, and they are hyper-focused on their own self-interests. And it will likely get even worse in the future.
December 5, 2025 at 2:40 PM
And yet 77 million morons voted for this. I'll never forgive them.
December 5, 2025 at 2:39 PM
This is so stupid. It will never happen. And any "litmus test" is what helped get Trump elected - twice. I will support the Democratic nominee. Period. So should everyone else who wants to win elections rather than purity tests. Jesus.
December 5, 2025 at 3:57 AM
These morons are killing innocent people and the top brass don't have the guts to admit it.
