I don't think it offers any advantage over bandcamp for the listener. I think the same kind of people will use it, namely that tiny percentage of people who want to actively support independent artists. It may have a certain cool factor to being in the know about it.

True in other areas too. They'll say there's a conspiracy to present bad info. Except they think all the scientists in the world are in on it, rather than the fossil fuel companies pumping out disinformation, which is obvious & easily verifiable. But they're not interested in digging into the facts.
