The satire of acting like he's not a villain is there to do the same thing the absolute comics are doing with his character: Ask readers to think more deeply about how and why he has shown up as a villain. Sorry if I was being obtuse in your thread!

He is definitely villainous in the Absolute, but some of the aspects of his character that are present in the main universe are taken to their natural extremes. He isn't just evil, he's explicitly an anti-communist who worked with McCarthy, and it informs what he does and doesn't feel remorse about.

But he only ever killed evil communists, what is to be ashamed of about that, right? ;)
