I may just be a cynic, but UB feels to me not like an attempt to get new players, but an attempt to get new patrons. I'm not sure they're as worried about longevity and engagement so long as people keep spending.

Anyone who raises chickens will tell you they can't get rid of them fast enough. Eggs should be a luxury, chickens pop them out like mad.

Actually my other concern too, I feel like artifacts is a really common removal target type, having this be an artifact feels like a huge downside

I think there is a lot of potential here, if anything it's going to be a huge value engine, and it being a MAY trigger means you'll never risk killing yourself to it
