It saves a lot of setup headaches and potential troubleshooting, making the "just works" experience smoother, especially for newer users. It's about convenience and minimizing friction for pure gaming. (2/2)

You're absolutely right that the core Steam/Proton is distro-agnostic!

However, distros like Nobara (nobaraproject.org) go beyond decent by pre-integrating a ton of optimizations. Think kernel tweaks, codecs, WINE/Proton GE, GPU drivers, and controller support; all pre-configured on install. (1/2)

But let's be honest. Does CoD do anything but raise your blood pressure & make you a worse human being? Is the world really worse off without those hollow shells of their ancestral titles?

Look in your heart. You know the answer. It's time to let it go.

This is why on-premises hardware isn't "old tech."

When the cloud goes dark, your local file server and on-prem apps are still running. You have actual control.

Don't be 100% reliant. Be resilient. A smart hybrid strategy is the only way.

"But what about my games!?" I hear you ask. And if you've missed the memo from the last few years: Proton. It's all about Proton now. @valvesoftware.com has paved the way for gaming on Linux. Yes, some AAA anti-cheats are still fussy, but it's a new world.

Sure, you have other options. You could pay Microsoft for pricey Extended Security Updates, or use services like 0patch.com to keep Win10 on life support for a fee. But with such great free alternatives out there, isn't it time to let go and move on?

Fair enough, not everyone's a fan. :) Though it is worth pointing out that it's an open source project, so while the Linux Foundation is backing it, it's not only them.
