The short answer is because the wholesaler who controls the .social TLD (Identity Digital) wants it to be, because then they make more money. Any time you purchase a domain using one of their TLDs, they get a cut from the reseller.

Looks like an SSL issue, also maybe an issue with the www subdomain. If you share the link as http rather than https it should work until you get SSL sorted. Wordpress has a learning curve, you’re doing great!
