Why not? It’s just another fandom. More problematic and full of cults than most, sure, but at the end of the day just a fandom. Maybe it would be less problematic if more people dug into and re-imagined their canon, it’s about as stagnant as you can get.

Ooh! Yeah definitely. For me, also a way to communicate trauma? Like, I’d tell the truth and people would gaslight me (that isn’t so bad) so I’d try to pick things that THEY would think were bad. Something that accurately communicated the emotional impact, even if it was factually incorrect.

Ooh! I used to do this. For me it was (and still can be when I’m super stressed) a self defense mechanism because my default is to be extremely blunt and honest (autism) But if I put myself in make-believe mode, then it’s easier to tell the stupid white lies my parents and teachers wanted to hear. 🫠
