‘Physics as Metaphor’ & RAW

So far, my most "successful" post - but also, according to blog stats, one of the least read (which isn't saying much, but it says something about my non-"market" success criteria). rawsemantics.home.blog/2025/03/20/c...

Einstein was creating a system that describes space ships (among other things) the year before the Wright Brothers got their first monoplane off the ground for a few seconds.

Yet another Thesis on History: why are we so damned miserable? Why hasn't this panned out? Why do so many wealthy people seem not to actually have creative...I dunno "lives"? Where are we going? I'm spitballin' and baffled. Someone enlighten me, por favor?

And while I'm at it (briefly breaking my break from social media) I may as well link to this (a very recent & rare post to my old blog on media framing) discussing, among other things, BOOKS, why they're my main vice, and why I'm no "scholar". newsframes.wordpress.com/2025/09/24/2...

Briefly breaking my break from social media, as I see this Robert Shea anthology is now available (ed. Tom Jackson @jacksontom.bsky.social). Aside from his co-authorship of Illuminatus!, I'm not too familiar with Shea's work. But the blurbs here seem warmly endorsing: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FQRNL8VP

We’re quite deep within the Singularity right now, though it’s turned out be the Singularity of Stupid (SoS), which effectively prevents the original concept of the Singularity from happening.

Had same idea as Rasa (on FB) to enhance this old image of RAW (from @propanon.bsky.social), inset - and took the ball and ran with it:

My capsule review of two films, using the ALT-text feature (hey, I never said social media doesn't have its odd uses!). The films: "I Care a Lot" (2020) and "The G" (2023).
The two films have a common theme: an old woman is a victim of a US caregiver "guardianship" scam, leaving her isolated and powerless. The real horror of that situation, which then veers - in both films - into twisty, fun, OTT, violent plots (both women have distant criminal friends/associates in their backgrounds, who emerge to help them). "I Care a Lot" seems more satirical, bright saturated colour palette, POV mainly of "guardian" (Rosamund Pike). "The G" more a revenge film from victim view (Dale Dickey); gritty, dark but humorous tone. Both smart, sly, hugely entertaining films, imo. The caregiver scam (a vulnerable old person forced into "care" under false pretenses so their home and assets can be taken by the "appointed legal guardian", usually acting as part of a company working with doctors, etc, all seemingly lawful, at a stretch) quite powerfully & ominously conveyed by both films. "I Care a Lot" would get easy 5 stars from me, if not for its later tone-shift into sort of "Mission Impossible" hijinks. Still one of my favourite recent films.

Gabriel Kennedy (@propanon.bsky.social) posted a historical account of Buddhism's role for RAW last month. In podcast-interview form - but luckily for those who get "podcast exhaustion" (I prefer reading) he's provided a fascinating synopsis: gabrielpatrickkennedy.substack.com/p/what-happe...

No details given about the nature of the book, or the degree to which it'll interest RAW fans specifically. But the commenters (who seem more in the know than me) indicate something good! bsky.app/profile/rawi...
