The Ethiopian wolf, Africa’s most endangered predator, has a sweet tooth.

While the wolf-like canids are otherwise strict meat eaters, scientists have spotted them slurping nectar from torch lilies. Their muzzles get covered in pollen + researchers suspect they might be acting as pollinators.

Wolves possess certain ocular characteristics that allow them to communicate with other members of their species using their eyes alone. Species that have irises much lighter than their pupils, + faces with markings that make their eyes easy to locate are more likely to live in social groups.
