Gunderholfen is a mega dungeon campaign setting written for OSR games, but it can be reworked for any D&D-like game. I’d love to someday use this book to run an all dwarves campaign similar to the Hobbit. The misty mountains call to me! #TTRPG

Spelljammer is an enjoyable setting, but its D&D 5e version leaves a lot to be desired. If you’re planning to run your own Spelljammer game, I recommend finding some of the books for previous editions, or make it your own. Or both! #TTRPG

Stennard is a grimdark campaign setting for DCC from Breaker Press Games. Nick Baran, the creator of Stennard, is the DCC rep for my local convention, so I always enjoy picking up one of his products when I see him each year. #TTRPG

I’ve gotta give credit to the Forgotten Realms setting. The first adventure I ran was Lost Mines of Phandelver, and the first campaign I completed was Waterdeep: Dragon Heist. I’ve even met Ed Greenwood, the creator! It’s a rich world that many groups have explored.

I played in the Midgard setting during my first gaming convention, so it holds a special place in my heart. Kobold Press produces excellent books, and the Midgard Worldbook is no exception. It’s one of those settings that you can run TTRPG campaigns in forever.

Obojima is the campaign setting I use for my 1-on-1 D&D game with my wife (I call it D&D Duet). The setting aims to blend themes from Studio Ghibli and Legend of Zelda for an adventure with a very cozy feel. The art inside is fantastic and I love looking through it!

While not really unlicensed anymore, the Tal’dorei campaign setting was where I first played as a character in a long campaign. Even though I don’t follow Critical Role much anymore, I got into D&D because of Vox Machina. It has a special place in my heart.

Horror on the Orient Express for Call of Cthulhu has been on my TTRPG Mount Rushmore for a long time. This massive 2-volume campaign takes investigators across Europe in a series of linked stories. Someday I hope to run this for a gaming group!

Down Darker Trails is an Old West/Weird West campaign setting for Call of Cthulhu. These books bring together history, legend, folktale, and Lovecraftian horror in a special way that scratches all the itches. I’m looking forward to running this again in 2026! #TTRPG

Umerica is a fan setting for Dungeon Crawl Classics, and it’s been on my TTRPG wishlist for a long time. This post-apocalyptic world is full of gonzo characters and easter eggs to American icons. The jokes and references really brings this together for me.

The Duchy of Ashlar mini-setting by Raging Swan Press is a recent favorite of mine and I can’t get enough of it. It’s great for classic fantasy TTRPGs, and it’s easy to convert to any OSR game you want. I can see myself running campaigns here again and again!

If you’re looking to run a new TTRPG campaign in 2026, here are my favorites! Eberron was the first campaign setting I bought when I started playing D&D, and I run a play-by-post game in this world. The one downside is it can be a lot of reading for players.
