four years ago on this date a hawk landed in our carport; twelve years ago on this date a young black bear visited the front deck and ate up the bird feeder. (the pictures are so blurry because it was raining and my hands were shaking from adrenaline)

not my final vision for this painting, but i like when the in-between stages make me briefly consider stopping
(i will definitely revisit this picture later when struggling to make something work and have a moment of regret i didn’t lol)

Stanley does great in the Kitty Holster harness and i use 6ft leash with a bungee section that gives it some stretch.
the velcro can be intensely strong - when we come back inside the house, i recommend undoing the neck one first, usually he can then slink out

i know there are traditions about not cleaning on this day, but my life really doesn’t care much about calendars these days, i take my time whenever i can. tidying my studio & re-arranging my gear helps me really see how many toys i’ve collected over the years and i want to use them more often

he meows at me in the afternoon when i get home from work and gets excited when i pull out the harness & leash; today it had just rained but we went out into the damp. he is nervous but so curious - careful perimeter checks in backyard only, away from noisy cars. squirrels are exciting, not birds
