Overall, 10/10 customer experience with C. The agent was nice, the call was quick, and above all, they helped reaffirm my belief that this industry needs to be regulated as our other utilities are.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

> "Oh, so not much to do then huh"

Nope.

> "Ok. Final bill will be in the mail and you can return any equipment..."

I have no equipment. I use my own modem and router.

> "Oh. Then I guess you're all done."

Yup. Thank you and have a great day.

> "That's a shame. You have been a customer for nearly 10 years."

Yup. But gotta save money.

> "Okay, well we can offer you a free phone line and your Internet at $65/mo for 5-6 years."

Huh, wild you can offer a huge cut like that but no. For exactly that reason. Plus I already have them set up.

New fiber ISP, Q, came to my area offering 1 Gb up/down for $75/mo. Sold. Set up within a week. Call old ISP, C, to cancel.

> "Why?"

Overall better service at half the cost. C advertised 1 Gb speeds, actuals averaged 700/32 Mbps up/down for $147/mo.

/10 The ICE “reformers“ want you to eat around the cockroach. I want you to send the plate back.

Stomp the cockroach.

/9 The classic response is to say this: imagine you are in your favorite Italian restaurant. The waiter delivers a magnificent dish of delicious pasta. In the middle is a cockroach. Do you send it back, or eat around the cockroach? The government wants to you eat around the cockroach.

/8 The “monitor and mildly reform” crew remind me of my favorite defense attorney closing argument used to refute prosecution defenses of sleazy cooperating witnesses.

Yes, prosecutors say, our cooperating witness has some flaws, but work around those and look at the corroborating evidence!

/7 Doing so is not inconceivable because we did it 23 years ago when we perceived the existing entities didn’t work. Being brutal and lawless to Americans is as much of a problem, if not more, than failing to protect Americans. ICE is infested with lawless bigoted anti-Americanism.

/6 ICE is a monument to totalitarianism, lawlessness, and bigotry. It should be ripped out and woodchippered root and branch and replaced with something focused on the concept that you can’t defend the rule of law by burning it down.

/5 But it’s true that sometimes entities and agencies are irretrievable because their culture is so enmeshed in complacency or infighting or incompetence.

Or, I argue, in bigotry and contempt for the rule of law and thuggish entitlement.

/4 That’s because, in part, catastrophic events had completely deprived existing structures of credibility, rightly or wrongly. Of course, that’s because of evil being done to us by outsiders, not because of evil we were doing to each other; perhaps that’s different.

/3 Nobody had patience in 2003 for the concept “maybe we should reform existing entities rather than dramatically eliminating and reorganizing and renaming.” Nobody had patience for the “sensible reform, modest oversight” message some are now pushing over “abolish ICE.”
