Who am I (a 🧵)
I feel so cutesy finally having a snippet to share lol. It's just a cute little scene between Nick Haunton and his twin in their family's basement

Talked to a Somali man today who said his mosque last night was surrounded by neighbors ready to protect them against ICE if needed. Made me feel proud to live in this city.

Funny how the Fourth Amendment keeps getting treated like a suggestion box.

Authors, why do you ask us readers to preorder your books and then go on book tours where we have to buy the book in order to get a ticket for the event? I’m really confused about this. 📚💙

Sometimes, as an author, we just aren't quite ready yet to write/finish certain books until we grow a bit. That's when we need to put them away for a little bit to ferment. So that we can come back to and write them correct when we are.- Wrtr #AmWriting #Writing #Author #Writer ~ #BookSky #AuthorSky

Stuck on a flat character? Try writing a scene from their childhood, even if it won't appear in the book. It reveals fears, values, and voice fast. What's a secret your main character has never told anyone? #writingtips #writingcommunity

Biggest writing pet peeve: when you're watching a show/movie (especially one in the same genre as your WIP) and it has a scene thats super similar to something you just wrote in a wip. lol now I feel like a plagiarist even though I wrote the scene before seeing the show #writersky #authorsky

Ahh, I keep meaning to check on here more often and keep forgetting! Let's hope 2026 has me being more active

Somebody take the ability to start a new WIP away from me!! I seriously need to finish *something* #authorsky #writersky

Sometimes I have the urge to rate my characters based on how likely they are to win Big Brother. (Hint: most are highly unlikely lol) #writersky #authorsky

Favorite SB worldbuilding tidbit -- there's 2 (+) different characters who refer to all magic users as 'witches,' but for different reasons, one because his native language only has the one word, and the other does so because he has a negative view of magic users outside his practice #writersky

This may be controversial here (it certainly is in other writer spaces) but I absolutely love prologues and epilogues. I include them whenever I can. #writersky #authorsky

Somebody stop me, I'm writing another emotionally repressed MC with a dark side that they pretend is the whole of their being but they're actually just traumatized and manipulated into believing they're intrinsically evil. #authorsky #writersky

I love world building. I'm a world builder. Every WIP has a 7000 word document for all the lore and it's my favorite part

Love self aware characters who aren't actually all that self aware beyond the surface level. #writersky #authorksy

One thing im absolutely horrible about is that I keep going into WIPs with barely any idea of plot, just a few characters and a scene, and thinking I can write it without an outline all the way through. #writersky #authorsky

One idea I plan on persuading once I'm done with my detective novel is one I had during a discussion about vampires while I was driving; Dracula by Bram Stoker but Jonathan is stuck in a time loop where he's trying to escape the castle without either dying or turning into a vampire.

I know that chasing every singly plot whim I have is how I get stuck with 40 WIPs with 12 finished chapters between them. But I started writing a detective thriller and it's really fun so I guess I have 41 now.

The last book I finished was all about this kid who was trying to catch his serial killer dad, and now I started a second book (same library, two shelves apart) with a similar premise, is the serial killer dad a common trope in YA?
