Great insight

Picked this up last week. I am not a fan of the underground era but I kept hearing Bodé was one of the pillars so I gave it a shot. The restoration and colors are beautiful. @imagecomics.com did an excellent job with this.

When you have friends that have good taste in comics and they all are buying a book, get that book.

I read this yesterday. Good horror story with surprisingly bigger themes than just horror. By @bubbleszine.bsky.social and translated by Ryan Holmberg.

“The Scrapbook of Life and Death” by J Webster Sharp is completely out of the box as far as graphic novels go. Sharp is an outstanding cartoonist. If you’re into body horror, this is your jam. I am not into body horror but she’s so damn good I had to make an exception.

At Megacon Orlando being a rebel against the superhero-heavy comics theme. Going to share some thoughts:

The grammys last night was a pretty good show. Less BS and more good performances. I’m sure MAGA hated it which is fine with me.

There’s a new Crumb collection of his underground work that may be of interest to people here. I’m getting it. #altcomics #robertcrumb #undergroundcomics

Reading this as part of a project. I read this 2-3 years ago and IDK why people talk so highly of Jodorowsky. This was a frustrating messy read. Moebius did a miracle job making this into a somewhat coherent story.

(1) My first comic was FF #147 back in 1974. (2) My 1st Valiant comic, this jumped out me from the racks. In 1991, Shooter-era Valiant was a breath of fresh air. (3) Akira showed me what manga was capable of. (4) The first indie series I loved and NVS became my fave cartoonist.

“My Favorite Thing Is Monsters” Book Two, Fantagraphics, 2024.

Meh. A boring book.

I had zero expectations for this books and I was still underwhelmed. This is a long, meandering book that barely follows up on the events of the first book and introduces new uninteresting characters.

I enjoyed this. The perfect style for the early 90s. An era of comics gone by.

No on should be surprised at Mark Waid getting this angry. This is the same guy that, upon seeing Superman kill Zod in “Man of Steel”, stood up and yelled at the screen “Superman does not kill!!” That was from his own blog post, not some urban legend.

Fist of the North Star vol. 14. The 18-volume set continues & after a lull in volume 11 (because IRL this is where the manga was extended due to its popularity so the mangaka had to figure out how to keep it going), it’s cooking again. The series ends in Sept 2025, if we all survive so long.

I have never read a Henry & Glenn comic, have a very slight idea of what it’s about but it seemed interesting and Tom Neely is the artist. From @microcosm.bsky.social I like supporting small publishers. I flipped through the insides and it looks fun.

@loadingthecanon.bsky.social also pointed this out. Interesting retail experiment. A nice color $40 oversized HC or this manga-sized B&W version with a dust jacket for $12.99. I figured if it sucked, it was only $12.99. I have the original Ronin, so I will probably reread that before reading this
