When I do check instagram to keep in touch with certain people, I do so through a mobile browser, which barely functions and many features are not useable. This keeps me from getting sucked in.

Deleting instagram, twitter and tiktok from my phone has markedly improved my overall mental health and wellbeing. Bluesky feels much more easy going in a lot of ways and doesn’t seem to be as predatory.

This is happening all over the place. The local school district here in Santa Rosa, CA had a similar multi-million dollar shortfall and closed several schools in the area. Following the school closures, they found that it wasn’t a deep enough cut, and were still in the red by several million.

I shower every morning but less as a personal hygiene kinda thing and more like a crucial step of my morning ritual. My whole day feels off if I don’t shower first thing after waking up

Or at, at least that’s how they view it. I would argue, if you actually believe that capitalism breeds innovation via competition, if the government is a competitor in a market, that would only further discipline the private sector competing in those markets, thus driving innovation.

This is why “big government” has been made into a monster for right wingers and libertarians. The more government produces to prop up essential functions of society, the more restricted the profit potential is for those “markets”. Health care, child care, elderly care, food access, housing, etc.
