It’s been a busy morning in Liverpool at day two of the Labour Party Conference.

Great to engage with Acting Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee @paulettehamiltonmp.bsky.social at the Health + Care Forum event which explored the 10 Year Health Plan in detail.

Rounding off day one of the Labour Party Conference with @wesstreeting who spoke about the Darzi Report, winter “becoming a permacrisis” and what the government is doing to tackle the challenges facing the NHS.

RCEM attended @nhsconfed.org event at the Labour Conference titled ‘Health & Growth: Making Prevention a Mission-Led Policy’.

Our Policy Officer stated to the panel that while prevention is important, the number of patients waiting 12 hours or more in the ED must also be a political priority.

The Labour Party Conference has landed in Liverpool and representatives from RCEM are on the ground, advocating on behalf of our members and the public for improvements in Emergency Care.

In 2000, there were over 80 violence-related ED attendances per week in Cardiff before ISTV was implemented. By 2024, this had decreased to 30-35 per week. If this was replicated in every ED, it would make a difference to your hospital, your community - you have a role to play
