You can act today by advising your patients on how to keep safe during high air pollution days, and in the long term by undertaking GreenED Silver Action 5: decreasing idling vehicles around your department.

🩺 Clean air isn’t just a climate issue — it’s a health emergency.

Cleaner air means fewer A&E visits, fewer hospital admissions, and healthier lives.

As clinicians, we advocate for evidence-based care. Let’s also advocate for clean air — because prevention starts long before the ED doors.

In Emergency Medicine, we see the impact of dirty air firsthand:

-Children in resus struggling to breathe during asthma attacks

-Older patients with exacerbations of heart failure triggered by high pollution levels

-Exacerbations of COPD and other respiratory illnesses that are preventable
