Spent time earlier this week in Greensboro NC with 90+ leaders, at an AAC&U Institute. The theme was hope and institutional transformation. I'm finding hope in the idea that small scale, hyper local change does indeed transform. We all have work to do. www.aacu.org/event/leader...

Last night, driving to the conference, I talked for hours on the phone with friends; this morning, I prioritized texting family, drinking good local coffee at two small businesses, and finding water even though it's windy. Small things. Community things.

I'm at a meeting of deans / provosts at schools in the Northeast. I am especially interested to think out loud together about how our colleges and universities can work to improve our neighborhoods, towns, and regions and demonstrate our value to the places we are located within.
