Feel free to send in your request too (no pressure obviously!)

these super talented songwriters tend be quite protective of their songwriting turf so this was actually a huge concession on his part - and I guess one that was validated after "Shine" became a hit.

So glad to hear this...as long as you discovered something you like and did NOT suffer through long stretches of songs that you wish you could skip through. Interestingly enough, there is a #ValentinesDay request event this Saturday on the station (detailed in our pinned post!).

oh wow..Thanks so much. I did not realize you were tuning in. Do you remember any tracks that you thumbed down? More importantly, were there new discoveries that you actually liked? And yes, I totally get the appeal of sticking to a large collection of your own where they are no unpleasant surprises

I promise I will get to this today!

I mean...I can see him making the reverse argument too since between the four of them, Gary had still had the most success as a solo artist. Mark had some but nothing on the scale of Gary's debut album. He could have easily suggested that the old formula needed to be revived.

if only their music had been played on radio back in the day in our side of the world (we are based in the US), this would have been one of MANY hits in the US.

Great watch - Wish they had done a 4th episode that focused on the band as a trio.

All great artists though I have to say I am not familiar with War of the worlds. Would their music fit our radio format? And if you had to hook me with a gateway track of theirs, which one would it be?

What made you tune out of radio in general? And thank you for tuning into ours (hopefully you have not been suffering the selection of songs on there).

Did you hear any of the stuff from their follow-up mini EP “Progressed”? The songs from that got the attention of our American listeners that were unaware of Take That prior to hearing their music on our station.

Controversial opinion: Musically, I think they only started to hit their stride post-reunion with "Progress" and "III". Not that the music prior to that was not good. The "listen on repeat" tracks did not exist for me until post-reunions albums 3 and 4.

"Reach Out" is our personal favorite from this album.

I am quite surprised he relinquished that level of control that he held on to tightly during Chapter 1 of the band in the 90s.

Echoing this completely! Usually, all the songwriting is outsourced for the boyband format. This lies at the heart of their success. They were not reliant on being “given” potential hits by other songwriters. Very much masters of their own creative destiny.

It was an entertaining watch with some new revelations - at least for us!

Their career trajectory also defies the odds of what one would expect for a boyband. Boybands are not, by design, supposed to last.

American perspective here: There were some new revelations for us: 1) Did not realize Jason Orange was starting to have one foot of the door even before getting Robbie back in the fold. 2) That these guys performed on Letterman.
