Some people, in all groups of people, suck. Because people sometimes suck. If your political movement relies on no one in it ever sucking you are not going to get very far.

This relationship is a contingent fact of housing prices being largely demand driven, though. My impression is people who want more affordable housing want to get there by building more houses. I don't see how that necessitates economic decline.
