The cost. When we first went to the hospital they said it would be a minimum of 250 euros ($290). Now let me ask folks who made it this far through the thread what do you think everything I described would have cost at a U.S. hospital. I have no idea. $10,000? More? (6)

In all I was treated by 2 doctors & about 6-8 nurses. Everyone spoke english. Everyone was cool calm and professional. The cardiologist looked at my existing prescriptions and increased dosage of one of them and added a new one. But here’s what I really wanted to talk about. (5)

I had blood drawn from both veins and arteries. Then there were the EKGs. I had 1 an hour for about six hours. Then an IV drip (beta blocker ?) that took a couple hours. My heart rate returned to normal. The doctor came in beaming. He was happier than I was. (4)

I had a dangerous high heart rate. I was Afibbing all over the place. My blood sugar was fine. The hospital sprang into action. A cardiologist was brought in to consult with the primary ER doc. I was swarmed by nurses. I’ve never had so much blood drawn and sent to the lab. (3)

I do have a couple of underlying health conditions so I kinda/sort of thought I knew what was going on. I was wrong. I’m a type 2 diabetic so I thought it was a blood sugar issue. I had also had one episode of AFib 18 months ago and I was put on Eliquis. Anyway, it turns out (2)

Working on First Editions. Got a first edition for each National Book Award winner for fiction working back from 2024 to 1950. (There was no award in ‘70 & ‘71).

First Editions. Ok this one has personal significance to me. Had to get third printing because of price compared to the first printing but it’s a correct First Edition with its second state dust jacket.

There are “First Editions” and “true First Editions”. Case in point is Cold Mountain. My First on left is with the corrected “madwoman” on page 25, line 16. A true first will have it uncorrected as “man-woman”. I just ordered it.
