We need to build systems that can answer simple questions without the need for a human touch, and reduce the expectation to patients that they can get unlimited free access to medical advice through the patient portal.

All the ideas that involve using support staff to manage messages just adds cost and inefficiency and IMO is not worth it. The end result everywhere I’ve worked is clinicians being told to see more patients so they can pay those people and then it’s right back to where you started.
