The way to do this is simple.

1. Know your goal.
2. Set up your phone in the best way you can to facilitate your goal.
3. Take advantage of the tools available through your phone to help you get there.

These 5 simple changes may seem boring, straightforward & may also seem silly. However your digital environment matters.

People all around the world have used their phones to create incredible connections, build businesses, learn languages or skills & craft their reality.

If you're on the fence, let this post be your motivation to go for a post-dinner stroll to see the Christmas lights in your locale!
December 20, 2025 at 12:09 PM
In a recent review of 57 studies, compared with 2,000 steps per day, 7,000 steps per day was associated with a 47% lower risk of all-cause mortality***. So, even just a little extra walking does a lot of good.

Lastly, it's no secret that "getting steps in" is not a bad idea just generally. Although 10,000 steps is very much an arbitrary number (nothing mystical happens when you move from 9,999 steps to 10,000), it's not a bad ballpark to aim for.

This, in essence, helps with improving heart health, lowering blood pressure, improving digestion, helping with metabolic health and weight management, and reducing "inflammation" (a broad word we'll have to have a future post discussing as it has oft been misappropriated).

Movement after a meal has been shown to reduce the glucose responses of meals**. This works as the muscle contractions from walking pull glucose immediately out of the bloodstream to use in the production of energy.

It has been shown that morning and evening sunlight exposure (especially morning sunlight exposure) contributes significantly to sleep quality*. Good sleep quality is important for all facets of health, recovery and rejuvenation.

Being semi-sun chasers and trying to catch both the sunrise and sunset every day is a good idea if you can swing it (obviously, people have jobs, newborns and other things that may get in the way).
December 20, 2025 at 12:09 PM
We don't just do this post-dinner walk because it's fun... But also to indulge in the health benefits of being semi-sun chasers, getting movement after eating and getting our step count in.

To just briefly touch on the specifics...

This has been especially fun around Christmas when we've also gotten to see all the local light displays on show (and show them to our toddler daughter, who really enjoys them too if she's not asleep at the time).

That wraps up our image run-down on this oft forgotten, "basic", health metric. And, the pulse oximeter - the little device that nurses often wear clipped to their uniform like a badge, that can help you measure it.

On the other hand, consistently higher blood oxygen saturation percentages have been linked to lower all-cause mortality and longevity.
December 17, 2025 at 3:05 AM
All those things can increase your blood oxygen saturation.

The amount of oxygen your haemoglobin carries around your body matters. On the one extreme, if it's too low you may get a speedy transfer to the emergency department.

Although you may consider things like nutrient deficiencies (especially with so much supplement marketing) it can be easy to forget about the importance of the free, easy health hacks of... Going outside to get some fresh air, sitting or standing up straight & breathing deeply.

But, perhaps there's more for you to know.

These aren't obscure blood test result metrics or niche test scores (though we are likely to cover many of those coming up too). These are things like body temperature. Things you may scoff at that you "already know and understand"...
