Yes!

Right now, the two parties are racing to the bottom because FPTP guarantees they will still get elected anyway.

But with STAR, it's not a guaranteed win. Then, there will be actual competition with new candidates outside of the parties. This would force the parties to get better or get lost.

P.S. All it would take is if Obama would tell everyone that FPTP isn't democratic. He could say it was the same system that elected Hitler, but after WWII, we made Germany change to a new system - but we kept it and elected a new Hitler.

That's the truth.
I'm sure the founders never anticipated that Congress would allow the president complete unavcountability.

Yes, Trump is bad, but why isn't Congress stopping him. It would be so easy if they did their job.

Again, all goes back to FPTP that creates two unaccountable parties.

Thanks for inquiring. The devastating problems with FPTP are the best kept secret in politics, because it ensures an unaccountable duopoly. You can't ever get anything you want, because neither party will ever follow through and there's not a dawn thing you can do about it.

This extreme polarization is a direct result of FPTP. It doesn't work, nor does negative campaigning nor gerrymandering with STAR voting.

Getting democracy is the single most transformative change there could be. And from there, you actually COULD get $$$ out of politics and a dozen other things.

It can be done by referendum in 24 states.
Alaska and Maine already switched to Ranked Choice Voting - not ideal, but superior to FPTP.

It would be nice if voters understood that they don't have democracy and brought this issue to the forefront.

It's not obvious that choose-1 voting prevents democracy, but it does.

Given this, with STAR, considered the best voting system, the differences in behavior and results would be dramatic.
December 1, 2025 at 6:42 AM
There is no prisoner's dilemma in STAR voting. So, any candidate outside the two parties can easily win with a populist platform that neither of the R or D parties would ever run. That would force the R and D parties to change up their platforms in order to compete.
democracy > no democracy.

Voters using FPTP always vote along party lines at a rate of >95% because that is the flaw of FPTP.

FPTP (choose-1) voting is why Rs and Ds won virtually every election for 165 years.

FPTP is the greatest threat to freedom and democracy ever perpetrated on a modern society.

Correct. First Past The Post voting is not democratic and cannot be expected to support a healthy democracy.

It creates 2 corrupt, unaccountable parties (Duverger's law).

STAR voting is needed in order to have democracy - before anything good can be expected to happen.

Get it by referrendum.

I believe this is an AI Anderson Cooper.

Regardless of the message, I believe it is wrong to use AI to mimick a public figure to exploit their credibility.

I can't prove it's not real, but if anyone can prove this is real, I'd love to see.

He set the top marginal tax rate to 94%.

As it should be.

It remained above 90% for 20 years. Those were the most prosperous years in history and built the middle class.
