Yeah, the Sony isn’t surprising, they prefer their own LDAC, which isn’t greatly supported by others.
Also some which do multi device (like air pods), actually have 2 connections, so if you think its connected, but not set as output, look in the devices list for another (maybe with LE in the name)

What devices are you trying to connect to? Bluetooth can be a minefield of supported versions and codecs etc, some devices (not just Apple) will never work well together, happy to do some digging if you let me know (Software guy away from here).
