At the end of the day I take comfort in the fact that anyone I’ve given a real opportunity to break my heart has come back around to tell me how soft being held by it felt. That will always be worth protecting.

It’s kind of god tier lover girl move to be celibate and still somehow manage to get my heart stomped on. We do it to ourselves but I’m accentuating the positive and saying, hey, at least I know it still works.

Be curious, be open, yes, but still believe people when they tell you who they are and even thank them for it. It’s easy to say you care about someone when they’re offering themselves to you on a silver platter, but what happens when they stop? Reality hits.

The bright side is it doesn’t really take much time for them to lose interest, anyway, so it’s usually over relatively quick. It’s a difficult lesson but seeing the good in someone who doesn’t see the good in themselves is a trap. I know this from lived experience.
