having seen what's gone on here the last 3+ years, the next manager is either going to be really poor quality or incredibly naive (maybe both!)

Feels like his ego is too big for that to happen.

Sadly I don't see how this cycle ends until the overall strategy changes or is tweaked. I guess our best hope is that Eghbali will get bored and leave...at least Boehly seems a little more flexible with squad building. Grasping at straws here

Fair points! Could very well be a briefing.

not an apologist for the owners and admittedly their hubris makes this situation look worse, but this particular venture was impacted by "mistakes" of the past ownership. at least from reporting it seems that possible sanctions made this deal harder. the original behdad quote is still hilarious

Seems likely we won't take a loss on most of the outgoing players this summer, but won't make much profit either. Most would be breakeven/slight loss (Nkunku, Disasi, Sterling, Badiashille, Chilwell, DDF, Kepa). Carney and Chalobah the only 2 I see = profit. Sanchez likely a bigger loss

Maybe they'll be willing to take a slight loss given the wages they'll save. But that would only make sense if they aren't bringing in a replacement (unless wages were significantly lower)

Might be fair to say Nkunku isn't good enough as a backup striker, but would love to see him get more minutes in a 10 role.

Very true. Also add in some players with PL experience like Neto/Sancho and having more options (Lavia/Fofana). Big fan of what Maresca has done so far, but it's still too early. If we drop points the next handful of games there may well be an overreaction in the other direction.
