the way to protect free speech in this instance is to show solidarity with the trans person being silenced. it's pretty straightforward.

and again, this attack on trans identity has been withering, brutal, and extended. if you are concerned about free speech, you need to be very concerned about a university firing a trans grad student for trying to do her job!

First, you completely miss the point here--to erase trans people from public life in a preplanned op. Second, are you right on the substance? The response gave no evidence she did the reading. Third, do you have a first amendment right to a good grade? Protect trans people first, quibble later.
