I've left those notes in story submissions that still ended up getting published and also one of them one an award. I kind of love it.

The one time I did it, it was haaaaarrdd. And there are a few projects i still think about-- like this one memoir I LOVED. Sigh.

I've still never seen it! Having been too messed up by the cover, I guess.

Now I watch scary movies almost clinically-- like they're research and none of them stick with me the way even the GLIMPSE of a black VHS box on a shelf in the horror section of the video rental place still does. Critters. Nightmare on Elm Street. Even the cover art scared me.

How could anyone resist that? I would give so many opportunities a good home!! I like that "remember to hang your jul shar" could read as a threat as well as a reminder of the joyous season. Jul shark would want me to get that writer in residence gig.

and the RIDICULOUS gratitude I felt to the two people in my undergrad who offered to write me letters without me asking. What generous blessings they both were.

It's such an excellent hit on both the NYTimes AND Trumpists. Well done!
