Good morning Womble! I’m reading The Artist by Lucy Steeds. It’s about a famous painter with a monstrous ego in the South of France, and two young people whose paths cross in his house. It’s an intriguing page-turner.

exploration of a place through time. There are themes running through the tale, with phrases of music that you can almost hear out loud. Great characters and a funny chapter written as a village message board!

I just read Villager by Tom Cox and I really enjoyed it. Each chapter has its own unique voice as the people of the fictional Dartmoor village of Underhill tell their stories.
The landscape and the river have their own voices and this is no trip into whimsy but a more earthy and sometimes bawdy 1/2
