This is an important first step to protect and preserve one of Salford’s most historic landmarks. It is long believed that Engels and Marx were regulars back in the day. (2/2)

Good news from Salford City Council and Historic England. An Urgent Works Notice has been issued on the Crescent pub after its shocking deterioration. (1/2)
Decisive action is now being taken to protect one of Salford’s most important historic landmarks.

Salford City Council has today issued an Urgent Works Notice on the Crescent Pub due to the alarming condition of the building. This legal notice sets out the essential repairs required to prevent further decay. While it will not see the pub fully restored at this stage, it is a crucial first step in safeguarding the listed building for the future.

If the necessary repairs are not carried out promptly, the Council may step in to complete the works and seek to recover the costs from the owners.

The Crescent Pub holds a unique and cherished place in Salford’s history, and it is long believed that Engels and Marx were regulars back in the day.

Shout out to the brilliant team from Langworthy Medical Practice for running today’s Covid & flu booster walk-in clinic at the British Legion. Over 800 people will be vaccinated by the end of the day 👏 They'll be there until Friday 10th October.

Find out more👇
Over the past few years, the Royal British Legion has proved to be the perfect setting. It’s accessible, welcoming and well placed to bring our community together. Not only has it increased vaccine uptake, but it has also helped protect hundreds of local residents ahead of the winter months.

This year, alongside the flu and Covid vaccines, Langworthy Medical Practice will also be offering the pneumococcal and shingles vaccines to those who are eligible. They are making the clinics more of a community hub, with support from Age UK, the Service Improvement Team and Digital Support.

Refreshments, including tea, coffee and hot soup, will be available, offering people a chance to stay a little longer, catch up with friends and feel connected. The Royal British Legion, Langworthy Road, M6 5PQ
 1st – 10th October
 09:30am – 4pm daily

Vaccines are open to the following eligible people, whether you are registered with Langworthy Medical Practice or not.

• People aged 16-64 in at-risk groups (such as those with long term conditions like diabetes, asthma, etc)
• Over 65s
• Pregnant women
• Carers
• Immunosuppressed people (either due to a medical condition or from taking medication which affects their immune system)

Covid vaccines: Boosters are available for those aged 75 and older, along with younger patients who have a weakened immune system.

House visits will soon commence for patients, organised by the practice.

Wishing the Jewish community a happy and meaningful Sukkot from all of us here at the Labour Party.

The attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall on Yom Kippur is shocking and deeply distressing. At this most sacred time in the Jewish calendar, my thoughts and prayers are with those affected, their families, and Jewish communities across Salford, Greater Manchester and beyond. 👇

#OTD in 1931, Salford saw the “Battle of Bexley Square”. 10,000 unemployed men & women marched peacefully against cuts to coal and unemployed allowance, only to be met with truncheons & mounted police. A reminder of brave Salfordians on whose shoulders we stand.

That's £2 million every year for the next decade, with local people deciding how funding is spent.

Pleased to co-sign this letter urging the Prime Minister to scrap the cruel two-child benefit cap. The Poverty Strategy Commission shows its abolition would lift millions out of poverty. Families should not be punished for their circumstances.
