We have definitely encroached. However, it is interesting that this body of water is a man made playa, constructed for drainage. Prior to its construction, the land was dry high desert between two highways. Now it is a bit of an oasis, with an impressive diversity of wildlife!

I think he knows it too. It looks like I was below, but he was out in front of me and turned sideways to get the full golden sunlight.
